A: Peter Zenger was a German immigrant hired by New York Weekly as an editor and a printer. The New York governor was opposed in this paper. Due to this Peter Zenger was sent to jail and held responsible for the published paper for being seditious libel.

A: The controversy over his charges were that everything Peter published were true. Hamilton defended this and proved that what he printed was not untrue and therefore the charges of being libel are not accurate.
