Image result for carnegie's gospel of wealth summaryCarnegie's "Gospel of Wealth" may surprise many people because Carnegie, a steel magnate, argued that very wealthy men like him had a responsibility to use their wealth for the greater good of society. Many may believe that the second richest man in history must be greedy. He emphasizes that the gap between rich and poor is necessary and that the economy would fail if both met in the middle and formed an all inclusive middle (and only) class. Carnegie believes that one must learn everything they can, then apply that knowledge and make as much money as he can, but then when retired endow that fortune on the public and enrich the lives of the masses. Carnegie was an unbelievably selfless man and he hated the European idea of primogeniture. Meaning Carnegie hates the idea that the oldest shall inherit an entire estate of money and assets. Carnegie again believes that it is the duty of the rich to enrich the human race with this money and that when a man dies he should leave that money to support the common people. When death takes a man from this planet his wealth is taken into the hands of many and it is the responsibility of this board to invest the fortune into institutions that will better mankind as a whole. Carnegie's many such endowments lay within the names of thousands of libraries and the development of a premier college in Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University. Carnegie's "Gospel of Wealth" was his true beliefs put on paper for the everyone to read.
